Cordon Green’s Social Contribution

Since ancient times it has been proven that food is the basis of good health and a strengthened immune system. The diet of our ancestors was mainly based on grains, cereals, fruits, vegetables and vegetables.

Cordon Green produces its products with organic grains and waxes, supporting fair trade which is a solidarity and alternative trading system to the conventional one that pursues the development of peoples and the fight against poverty. We work hand in hand with small Ecuadorian producers and farmers, improving their quality of life and that of their families.

Ecuador is a beautiful country, filled with diversity of food, cultures and landscapes.

As responsible consumers, we know you want to know about the origin of the raw material and we will be very transparent in order for you to know where the quinoa, chia, oatmeal, and panela come from.

Quinoa is ancient

Quinoa was grown by the Incas 5000 years ago. It was considered as a sacred food since it gave a lot of strength and energy to the Incan empire. In order to grow it, it is necessary to plant it at 3500 meters above sea level, that is why Ecuador is one of the perfect countries where you can produce it.

Nowadays quinoa is consumed around the world. It has a Delicious and unique taste; it gives you the ease to mix it with any other food. Quinoa helps improving your health since it is high in protein and low in calories, it has Omega 6 and it is high in fiber.

Our goal is to help

Our objective is to support the effort farmers, collection centers and foundations make selling delicious, responsible and healthy products that represent fair trade in Ecuador.

Our values: respect, transparency, fair price, solidarity, support, honesty, work, entrepreneurship, quality of life, community, gender equality.

Know the secret to a perfect quinoa:

Cordon Green uses the quinoa supplied by FEPP Foundation, the Ecuadorian Popular Fund on Progresium, which has the goal to associate, train and improve the quality of life of farmers. “Instead of thinking of our own needs, we think of the needs of other and we become solidary”.

FEPP Foundation has a training school that helps empowering women in order to become decision makers just like men, being able to lead several communities in the production of quinoa. We have slowly seen women being valued and breaking the myth that a woman can only be a “housewife”.

The quinoa used in our products comes from the Chimborazo and Cotopaxi provinces from over 60 farmers.

Can we count on you?

With your purchase, you help improving the life conditions of the farmer.

What would we eat if the countryside population moves to the cities because the value of their work is not recognized?

If we assure a fair price, they will have reasons to stay in the fields and harvest.

Watch the stories of farmers

We have created a range of new products lay with grains, cereals, organic cocoa typical of Ecuador, by purchasing each product will help Ecuadorian farmers and peoples. Our products meet all standards and are quality standards, they are made in equipment that processes only plant proteins

For every product in the Cordon Green line you buy, you're helping various people and animals. For each product sold we donate a sum to:

Julio was born in the Chimborazo province in the town of Colta. Julio, his father, and his grandfather worked in the field since they were children harvesting corn, vegetables and potatoes.

“I remember when my dad left with his truck full of what we harvested and came back home with money. That way we could pay for my school and my sibling’s. But there was a moment when the same full truck was not worth the same, people paid less for food and we couldn’t make ends meet. That’s why I could only complete fifth grade, my oldest brother was lucky enough to finish primary school. I don’t want my children lo live the same, that’s why we joined the FEPP association that pays the quinoa grain at a fair price and I am proud of the life we have”.

We want more children to complete their studies and not just dedicated to working

Rosita tells us about the way of plating quinoa. “First we have to prepare the soil with organic products so the quinoa can grow better. Then, we start planting, we make the soil loosen and start making holes where we put the quinoa grains. Our land is noble and the quinoa grain is very resistant that why we never use pesticides. After six months, the quinoa is ready and the grain has all its nutrients. We harvest the quinoa when it is Golden, that is why we call them fields of gold. We sundry it and it is ready. The planting and harvesting times are very important in the quality of the quinoa”.

The production of quinoa is mostly made manually and we have noticed the infrastructure of the collection centers and offices has been improving with the income people get from it.
